The Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence offers a semi-annual two-day Domestic Violence 101 Training. DV101 is the Coalition’s signature training event and attracts people from a cross-section of our state, including nonprofit organizations, police agencies, and state employees working on issues ranging from behavioral health services to human resources to the criminal justice system.
DV101 introduces new domestic violence advocates and others from the community to the basics of serving and working with victims and survivors of domestic violence. Topics covered during the training include:
The first day of training addresses issues ranging from the history of the advocacy movement to activities designed to answer the one question domestic violence advocates are asked the most: “Why does she stay?”
The second day explores the legal side of domestic violence and culminates in a mock Protection From Abuse (PFA) order hearing conducted by attorneys from Community Legal Aid Society, Inc., a DCADV Member Organization, and participants from the audience.
Attendees are able to earn certification credits toward the Domestic Violence Specialist Certification offered by the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
